What sorts of songs do we sing?
We've always performed probably the most diverse repertoire of any local choir: everything from pop, folk, rock, jazz, r'n'b, Americana and country, indie and very occasionally a classical song (a simple one!).
Basically, there's something for everyone!
We're also the RESIDENT CHOIR AT THE WONDERFUL CRANLEIGH ARTS CENTRE, where we meet all year round - it's a very special place with a great atmosphere, and fantastic to be a part of.
How do I join?

Just turn up ANY THURSDAY during term times (dates are on the term dates page, as we do take a half term off) for a FREE taster session (we begin at 7.30pm). We won't put you under any pressure to join, but will be delighted if you do!

If you do decide to join us, then the fee for your first term is only £63.00 and then £70.00 for subsequent terms. This covers a 10 week term (average choir fees are now £100.00 - £140.00 per term) so it's effectively 7.00 per session. The full fee is payable at the start of each term, but I don't mind if you pay in two instalments. We have 3 terms per year.

We meet on Thursday evenings at the Arts Centre from 7.30pm - 9.15pm (with a tea break in the middle).

There are NO auditions and you DON'T have to be able to read music as everything is learned by ear and, since I started the choir in January 2006, we've always arranged and recorded all the sung music parts so that you can practise between rehearsals. This makes it SO much easier for you to learn your parts, which is enjoyable in any case of course, but having the sung parts also helps to build confidence and ultimately, it makes a HUGE difference to the number and quality of songs we can learn as a choir!

I also provide lyric sheets with all the places where you need to sing marked in bold. I try basically to make being in the choir as easy as I can for everybody.

Naturally, I also help with any problems individual choir members may have learning their parts on Thursday evenings, as well as offering vocal advice/direction where needed. I should mention here though that being in the choir is first and foremost about the singing - and indeed everyone goes off at the end of the session saying how much better they feel (as do I!)!

We have a tea break mid way through our weekly sessions in the lovely Exhibition Gallery at the Arts Centre, where many happy friendships have been formed over the years - as part of being in any choir is of course the social aspect too! As an added bonus, we also get to see all the exhibitions which change every fortnight, as well as browsing the crafts on display in the coffee bar area.

I try to balance the repertoire with some easy songs, a few harder ones and ones singing with our very own talented soloist Eleanore.

The choir is such a relaxed, friendly and fun group to be a part of, with lots of laughter and of course wonderful singing! For the whole time I've been running it, it's been a joy, and prospective new members are always warmly welcomed! The more the merrier!
